Guruvayoor (Kerala), Nov 19 (IANS) — The presence of 35-year-old Davis, a Christian, from Sunday inside the famous Sree Krishna Temple compound at Guruvayoor has impelled the temple authorities to re-do all the poojas that were performed during the period Davis was present in the temple.
K. Anilkumar, secretary of the temple told IANS: “Davis was identified Friday by a person who was known to him and was handed over to the temple authorities who later handed him to the police.
“Davis is mentally deranged. On account of his presence we decided to re-do all the poojas that was done when Davis was inside the temple.”
“The temple tantri is leading the re-enactment of the poojas. The temple authorities first did a pooja in the pond to cleanse it because Davis is believed to have taken bath in the temple pond. Close to a dozen temple priests are busy re-enacting the poojas,” said Anilkumar.
“All the poojas would be over by Saturday noon. This has caused a bit of inconvenience to the devotees,” added the temple secretary.
“Davis has told the police that he hails from nearby Chalakudy and someone known to him left him at the temple. He is believed to have spent five days beginning Sunday and was having the free prasad served to all devotees,” said the secretary.
